Dr Olivia

DVM

Dr. Olivia Mellgren graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020 and began her career in mixed animal practice before focusing on small animal care. She is passionate about preventive medicine, client education, and building lasting relationships with pets and their families.

Dr. Olivia has a special interest in dentistry and emergency medicine. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys time with her husband-Sam, their two children, and their Standard Poodle and two cats.

Dr Mark

DVM

Dr. Mark has had a lifelong interest in science and animals, which led him to pursue veterinary medicine at Kansas State University. After several years in mixed animal practice, he found his passion in companion animal care and values helping strengthen the bond between pets and their owners.

“Not one day have I regretted becoming a veterinarian… I enjoy caring for pets, working with clients, and continuing to grow in the field.”

Marsha

Manager

Marsha grew up on a dairy farm near Lake Preston, SD and has always had a passion for helping people. After earning her Business Management degree from Dakota State University, she built her career in the hospitality industry, eventually becoming a General Manager.

She joined Care Small Animal Hospital in 1997 and quickly developed a love for the veterinary field. Today, as Practice Manager, Marsha plays a key role in daily operations and client experience.

Angie

Registered Veterinary Technician

Angie grew up in Wahpeton, ND and developed a love for animals early on through family pets and time spent on her grandparents’ farm. Her interest in science and medicine led her to pursue veterinary technology.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology from North Dakota State University and has been part of Care Small Animal Hospital since 2001, where she is committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care.

Karie

Registered Veterinary Technician

Karie grew up in Bristol, SD and developed a passion for animals early on while helping care for family dogs. Inspired by the compassion she saw in veterinary care, she pursued a career in veterinary medicine.

She earned her degree from Ridgewater College and became a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2017. Karie is a Fear-Free Certified Professional focused on making each visit as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

Brooklyn

Veterinary Technician

Brooklyn is originally from Watertown, SD and is a recent graduate of the North Dakota State University veterinary technology program. She returned to Watertown to complete her externship and joined the team full-time.

She enjoys continuing to learn and grow in veterinary medicine and especially values helping people and their pets in her community.

louann

Client Service Representative

LouAnn is from Watertown and has had a lifelong curiosity and love for animals and nature. She earned her Biotechnology and Medical Laboratory degrees from Lake Area Technical College and brings strong attention to detail and technical skills to her role.

She enjoys getting to know clients and their pets and being part of a compassionate team.

Hailey

Veterinary Assistant

Hailey was born and raised in Watertown, SD and has always had a deep love for animals. Growing up in a home full of pets, she developed a strong passion for caring for them at a young age.

She began working at the clinic in 2023 and enjoys caring for animals and learning more about veterinary medicine each day. Hailey is currently attending South Dakota State University pursuing a degree in animal science with a pre-veterinary focus.
